10 benefits of executing your lead generation strategy one client at a time

When I owned my incubator MYAGI for startups I had a motto:

Start small, start now.

It’s easy to pay some guy on fiver to pull a list of 20000 emails of your target market. It’s easy to buy a software to clean that list. It’s easy to start sending batch emails - but chances are your results will suck. Why because gmail has a spam button and most platforms have spam proofed themselves so it’s harder than ever to get though to people.

You know what’s hard and that no one is doing?

Picking up the phone. Going to knock on their office door. Researching their website. Sending them an authentic personalized message. But there’s more to it.

Here are 10 benefits of this approach:

  1. You learn more and know you are actually getting to someone.
  2. You’re more committed to reaching them whether it’s through their email or joining their Facebook page or making a phone call. Get on the chase instead of giving up.
  3. You’re more committed to having a clean list because you know you spent time searching them out.
  4. You’re more committed to following up.
  5. You get to research all sorts of websites giving you a look at different brands, messages, services and positions people are taking in the market place. This provides ideas for better servicing your clients.
  6. You can send personal and more authentic messages. You can more likely have the accurate name of the client. Like Wow Alex, I love the yellow and black on your logo. We’re bombarded by automation these days so anything personal, and relevant stands out.
  7. Less total bounce rate on your email account and more focus on your ideal clients.
  8. You can see the size of the business and see what the best email would be.
  9. You can test all sorts of email subject lines and copy until it works — proving itself from the ground up.
  10. Refines your target market by recognizing who’s a right fit and who’s not. Maybe it’s a minimum or 5 employees but not more than 20.

It may be scary for some of you to go back in time. To go back to the days of facing rejection and receiving a NO. But hiding behind the screen is just not working for you is it?
